1. Worried about huge cane arrears of Rs 20,000 crore to farmers, the Centre today asked sugar-producing states, to take all possible measures to facilitate payment of dues.
2. Heavy rain is forecast to continue over Tamil Nadu and parts of Kerala on Friday even as observations suggested that north-east India has slipped under the ‘Kalbaisakhi’ (seasonal thundershower) season.

5. With fears still looming in the minds of farmers, the land acquisition activity for A.P capital city building is slowing down. Failure in commitment to the Crop Loan waivers to the extent promised, seems to be the prime reason.
