India Agriculture & Food updates - 27June'15 !

1. Government today increased sharply the minimum export price (MEP) of onion by USD 175 per tonne to USD 425 per tonne to ensure adequate domestic supply and contain price rise.

2. Central Rice Research Institute (CRRI) has indicated that rice production may go up to 105-106 million tonnes if monsoon continues in the current pace.

3. Cafe Coffee Day to raise ₹1,150 crore via IPO.

4. This years Monsoon which arrived late but surged through entire country, expands Kharif crop area by 82%.

5. Tea production in Bengal and Assam hit by heavy rain; June production may decline 20-25 per cent.

6. Prime Minister of India will lay the foundation stone of the 1,000-acre Indian Agriculture Research Institute (IARI) in Jharkhand on 28thJune'15.

7. Kentuky Fried Chicken (KFC) denied the claims that food items sold at their Hyderbad outlets contains Solmonella and E.Coli bacteria.

8. NABARD is in the process of recovering the livestock loans issued in 2011 under the Kaamadhenu scheme, so as to re-issue the loans afresh to the needy and deserved.
