India Agriculture & Food Updates - 1stJuly'15 !

1. Indian Climate & Meteorology department mentioned that 16% more rain has been observed in the month of 2015 than expected.

2. Yamagata University Researchers in Japan has created a high quality rice flour with an intention to solve the food & nutrition problems of the world.

3. As a part of 12th planning commission, The central govt has planned to produce 30 Thousand metric tonnes of Silk in the country.

4. After several farmers’ organisations, it is now the turn of agricultural scientists, representing various research institutions, to criticise the Land Acquisition Bill, citing that that reducing cultivable land can pose a serious threat to the food security of the country.

5. Mumbai-based Indian Agricultural Company, StarAgri Warehousing and Collateral Management Limited has set up offices in Singapore and Myanmar to expand its global Agri trade and links with the Indian market.

6. Central Government considers imposing 10% import duty on wheat.

7. Onions get cheaper with rise in minimum export price.

8. Nestlé India has been allowed to export Maggi noodles by the Bombay High Court but the product will remain off shelves in India.
