1. A law that would have forced French supermarkets to donate unsold food to charity has been scrapped on a legal technicality – but supermarkets are being urged to adopt it voluntarily and some have already pledged to do so.

2. Perilous working conditions for sugarcane growers in Central America have claimed around 20,000 lives in the past decade and supply chain advisor Solidaridad says the food and drink industry can no longer ignore the epidemic.

3. Major investment in Russian venison production is being made in Kamchatka Oblast by local venture Revival of Reindeer Breeding Development.

4. Corn yields are expected to rise again, seeing record highs in many Midwestern states, for the 2015-16 fiscal year.
