Global Agriculture, Food & Nutrition Updates - 11thAugust'15 !

1. Spruce Capital's Malaysian Life Sciences Capital Fund II has recently started investing in agtech, more precisely in biogreentech companies.

2. USDA (U.S.Department of Agriculture) backed Advantage Capital Agribusiness Partners invested $7m in Pacific Ag, which harvests and sells crop waste.

3. China's agriculture industry has been challenged by lack of economies of scale, low tech farming techniques, broken value chains. But even more fundamental issue of drying soil threatens China's future crops.

4. Russia marked the one year anniversary of its import ban on Western food by defying a storm of criticism from within and launching a controversial campaign to destroy tonnes of smuggled food.

5. Genetically modified (GM) crops will not be allowed in Scotland, the Scottish National Party (SNP) has announced.
