Global Agri, Food & Nutrition updates for the week of 08/08/15 !

1. Toyota JV invests in Zambia irrigation system, to build an irrigation dam in Mumbwa District in Zambia.

2. Advantage Capital Agribusiness Partners invested $7m in Pacific Ag, which harvests and sells crop waste.

3. China's agri industry has struggled with lack of economies of scale, low-tech techniques and broken value chains – but an even more fundamental issue of drying soil is on the horizon.

4. The price of olive oil has risen 10% this year as European supplies continue to be affected by the Xylella fastidiosa disease in Italy and a drought in Spain.

5. California in U.S. provides 83% of the world’s almonds, but drought is affecting supply.

6. The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are two of the services to receive funding in the FY2016 Agriculture Appropriations Bill in Washington, US.
