1. Saudi Arabia remains the most attractive food and beverage market ahead of Egypt, with food consumption growth of 7.6% this year, says a new BMI report.

2. Consumers around the world are more label-conscious than ever before, according to new research from global colouring foods firm GNT.

3. Saturated fats are not associated with an increased risk of death, heart disease, stroke, or type 2 diabetes, says a new study published in the BMJ.

4. Nomad Foods has confirmed it will acquire the European operations of Findus Group for €702 million (£500m), adding further scale to its frozen-food business just months after a 2.6bn deal for Iglo Group.
