India Agriculture & Food updates - 11July'15 !

1. Rabobank partner's with India's Caspian Impact Investment to improve the livelihoods of small scale farmers and enhance sustainable economic development.

2. Detailing the success of Co-operatives in India, the Central Agriculture Minister mentioned that agricultural credit advanced through cooperatives has increased from a meagre Rs 214.35 crore in 1960-61 to Rs 8,6185 crore in 2011-12 with about 17 per cent share in total institutional agricultural credit.

3. Economists at the 34th NABARD foundation day event mentioned that agriculture sector needs more financial support from banks in order to promote sustainable and equitable farming and rural prosperity which will also help in tackling food security issue in future.

4. World Bank would fund 75% of the Hydrology project to be undertaken by A.P Govt. Drought prevention, Water Management & Ground/Surface water recharging activities would be carried out through this project.
