Global Agriculture, Food & Nutrition Business updates - 24July'15 !

1. IDB raising $25m climate-smart fund to boost LatAm and Caribbean agribusiness.

2. The Council of Smallholder Agriculture Finance (Social Lending), upped its lending by 56% ($564m) to 658 agri SMEs in 64 countries.

3. Malaysian Lifesciences Capital Fund held a first close on $150m in January and is still fundraising.

4. Cargill through a $30m joint venture with Naturisa will invest in an Ecuadorian shrimp feed facility (Acquaculture Business).

5. Archer Daniel Midland (ADM) and Serra Ventures are among the investors in Agrible, an agtech start-up that focuses on predictive analytics.

6. Nestlé has opened a CHF 48m ($50m) R&D center in Solon, Ohio, that will focus on new product development for its frozen and chilled food businesses worldwide.

7. NASA is exploring all forms of cutting edge technology, from 3D printing to high pressure processing and more to be able to transition its food system from the International Space Station to a Mission to Mars.

8. Austria could be taken to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) over its ban on doorstep sales of products like food supplements, the European Commission says.

9. Begining 2016 crop year, The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the expansion of crop insurance to provide additional options for fruit and nut producers through Supplemental Coverage Option (SCO) and the Actual Production History (APH) Yield Exclusion option.
