Global Agriculture, Food & Nutrition updates - 15 July'15

1. Nestlé is investing $120m in a 175,000m² manufacturing facility in Dubai to produce Nescafé coffee and Maggi products, creating 400 jobs.

2. Fispal Technology 2015, an international fair for packaging, process and logistics for the food and beverage industry, took place between June 23-26, in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

3. The US ‘specialty gourmet’ retail channel – led by retailers such as The Fresh Market and Mariano’s - has 1,000 stores and revenues topping $18bn, according to market researcher SPINS.

4. China’s taste for premium beef has transformed one of Beijing’s rural districts into a breeding base for one of the country’s key processors of premium Angus beef.

5. An Ireland based macroalgae derived feed ingredient firm has raised €1.4m in funding to significantly boost production output.

6. More than 150 people have been sickened by Salmonella in Sweden with authorities linking the illnesses to spice mix.
