India Agriculture, Food & Nutrition updates - 25Dec'15 !

1. Corporates evince keen interest in Floriculture cultivation sector in India as 90% of demand is now met via imports.
2. Amul's Aggregator model aimed at eliminating middlemen from supply chain & providing higher remuneration to farmers. In this model, private players could be incentivised to work as aggregators to collect farm produce and sell it to consumers.
3. NABARD to provide assistance of Rs 75 crore to Rajasthan for infrastructure facilities and financial literacy at village level.
4. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade excluded Onions from Minimum Export Price (MEP) restriction.
5. Climate - Rapid warming of the Indian Ocean may potentially turn this biologically productive region into an ecological desert, according to a new study by scientists at Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology.
