India Agri & Food updates - 22May'15 !

1. Dal prices are going to shoot up, The increase in prices is going to pinch the common man for the next few months, till fresh produce reaches the markets.

2. Cabinet approves ammonia-urea complex with investment of Rs 4,500 crore.

3. The current prices of soybean at Rs 3,900 per quintal compared to government rate of Rs 2,700 will persuade farmers to plant more.

4. To boost urea production and reduce import dependence, the Cabinet has decided to pump in ₹10,500 crore in two plants.

5. The practice to announce MSPs for certain crops to protect the basic interests of farmers may become extinct, an expert former Chairman of Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) says.
