India Agri & Food updates - 04May'15 !

1. A new bajra (pearl millet) hybrid, HHB 272, developed at Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) here will be released for cultivation in Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat.

2. Fish catch from the sea has declined in the country with Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Kerala, which account for over 50% of the fish landings in the coasts, reporting a sharp fall in 2014.

3. The soybean processors of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra under the banner of Soybean Processors Association (SOPA) are trying to find out ways and means to fight out speculation in soybean prices.

4. Coffee exports from the country have increased by 7.22 per cent to 31,060 tonnes in April this year compared to the same month in 2014.

5. Lack of working capital, coupled with high processing cost, has forced the government undertaking Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation (KSCDC) to close down 30 of its factories.
