India Agri, Food & Health Updates - 05May'15 !

1. Coffee exports from the country have increased by 7.22 per cent to 31,060 tonnes in April this year.

2. As wheat harvest across key growing regions in North India almost comes to an end, Millers struggle to get quality wheat as unseasonal rain leads to lustre loss.

3. Scientists say climate change is to blame for uneven rainfall that is cutting yields and lifting costs for tea firms such as McLeod Russel, Tata Global Beverages and Jay Shree Tea.

4. Varieties of wheat and rice introduced during green revolution period are not resistant to drought and flood situation, agri-research body ICAR has said.

5. The Mango Growers’ Association of India (MGAI) estimates that the damage caused is as high as 30 per cent in Uttar Pradesh, among the key mango-growing States, while Maharashtra and Gujarat, which supply nearly 12 per cent of the delectable Alphonso variety overseas, have also been hit.
