Global Agriculture, Food & Nutrition updates - 11Nov'15 !

1. The 119,000 acre acquisition of Lousiana timberland from the $662m Molpus Fund IV  brings acreage managed by the firm to 1,875,000.

2. Barclays Kenya launches agribusiness unit.

3. Syngenta and DSM team up to bring more biotech into agri.

4. SmartVet has developed a disruptive platform to deliver medication to livestock. Since its product launch in 2014, the company has experienced rapid market adoption with sales of $7M in FY2015.

5. The global bioplastics production capacity is set to increase from around 1.7 million tonnes in 2014 to approximately 7.8 million tonnes in 2019, according to the European Bioplastics association.

6. The chocolate market will exceed $26bn in the US by 2018, according to a recent report.

7. USDA will invest $8 million in the Ogallala Aquifer Initiative (OAI) in Fiscal Year 2016 to help farmers and ranchers conserve billions of gallons of water annually while strengthening agricultural operations.

8. Since the start of the Mississippi River Basin Initiative in 2009, USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has worked with more than 600 partners and 5,000 farmers to make conservation improvements on more than 1 million acres in the region.
