1. Backed by 280 investors, Agtech companies raise record $2bn in first half of year.

2. The private equity firm BC Partners is making its first agri acquisition in more than 15 years, buying Dutch flower breeder Dümmen Orange for a reported €500m.

3. Farmer shareholders approved 50% stake sale of Silver Fern to Shangai Maling, the subsidiary of Chinese state-owned Bright Food in return for a NZ$261m capital injection.

4. Melon juice concentrate reduces cellulite on thighs but not stomach, according to a recent study by French ingredient supplier Bionov.

5. The worlds biggest packaged food manufacturer, Nestlé, has revised its growth target for the year to 4.5%, after the Maggi noodle recall in India knocked sales and under-calculated U.S. Skin Health rebates weighed down profits.
